Evaluation

My front cover follows the basic conventions of a magazine as my school magazine includes a logo next to my masthead, masthead at the top of the page and used cover and puff lines. However, i have not conformed to the conventions of a school magazine as usually the logo is located at the left of the masthead, but I have put it to the right of the masthead. I have also challenged the conventions of a magazine as normally the image takes up the whole page, but on my magazine I have left space around the image, to use for the cover and puff lines. My contents page has developed the basics of conventions of a magazine as I have made the contents page 50% images and 50% text. Also, I have used anchored text along the bottom of the page with the images, which follows the basic conventions of a contents page. Another thing I challenged was I used serif text, when normally sans serif text would be used. Also, I did not part my contents page into sections. When I create my music magazine I will ensure I follow the conventions of  a magazine as this will develop my magazine and will make it more attractive and look better.

My image on my front cover shows a mixture of boys and girls which presents a close, mixed community to show welcoming environment. The students have been represented as they are smartly dressed in business wear and chislehurst ties to present the school. The students are smiling and have confident body language.

Since my media product of the school magazine, the distributor would have to be preferably small publisher as this product is only aimed at parents, and would only be created by teachers or students and be distributed to only the school. Considering my magazine would only be sold at a low price it would not be necessary to be published by a popular, big distributor as it would not be up to the standards of professionals.

4.      Who would be the audience for your media product?

5.      How did you attract/address your audience?

6.      What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?

I handed out my questionnaire to 50 chislehurst students, then i recived the answers a week later and then collected all the answers to make an analysis.

My first question I asked was:

                          Yes/No
82% of people answered yes, 18% answered no

My second question was:

Once a week/ Once a term/ Once a month/ Once a year/
I collected these results and made into a pie chart.

My third question was:

My answers varied from; 60% 20p to; 5% 30p ;5%40p ;10% 50p; 17% £1 and then 3% said other and the answer mostly was free. As a result of these answers, my school magazine will be priced as 20p as the majority of the people choose that pricing.

My fourth question was:
Who should be the target auidence for a school magazine? (circle one)

Teachers/ Parents/ Students

30% said teachers, 65% said parents and the 5% which was left said students, Therefore my school magazine will be aimed at parents/careers as this was the most choose answer.

My next question was:
What edition should be used when creating my school magazine? (circle one)

Seasonal edition (e.g. halloween) / Term edition/ Advertisements

The answers I collected were 13% said seasonal edition, 57% said term edition and 30% said advertisements, therefore my school magazine will be a mixture of being a term edition and advertisements.

Blue and green/ Black and white/ Blue and black
70% said blue and green as it the schools theme colours, 24% said black and white and 16% said black and blue. I will be using blue and green for my school magazine as the majority said blue and green and I believe it is a good idea as it the schools theme colours.

My final question was:
Which one should the mast head of my school magazine? (circle one)
I collected these results into a pie chart:

Front cover photoshoot

I took various pictures for my front cover, using three chislehurst sixth form students, this will show a sense of community and friendship creating a postive atmosphere for the school for the auidence as this will be the first image the auidence will see.
I took many pictures because I will decide which one is the best to use and which one I intend to use.
